The Fuel Funny Car title went to Frank Pedregon and the “Dutch Mafia” entry based on elapsed time and two wins. His 5.05, 255.29 covered Tim Wilkerson’s troubled 5.74, 176.72. In the consolation round, Jack Wyatt’s Race Girl entry took a 6.50, 136.37 win over John Lawson’s even earlier shut-off run in the Ruane Construction Camaro.

Top Fuel was a bit of a disappointment, and a tad surprising. Scott Palmer’s “NitroPlate” dragster won round two, but could not better Tony Schumacher’s 5.00 of the first round. Consequently when he beat Schumacher in round two, his 5.482, 182.75  buried Schumacher’s-lifting early for the second straight lap’13.76 wasn’t enough to gain the match. Schumacher explained to the track officials that the front end was going up os he lifted. World Champ Schumacher won his first World Series championship.

Former Cordova Track Owner Bob Gipson and his K/S Chevelle won Super Stock on Friday, qualified 2nd on Saturday with an 11.84 on a 12,85 index and is still in the program tonight with three rounds left.
