Hey lookee here, this has been talked about already by
our very own Agent 1320, but I thought I would embarrass
the guy once more. Jerry Kumre Jr. is still the driver of
Pete Jensen’s Foothill Flyer/ Free Mexican Airforce
nostalgia Top Fuel entry. The motor gremlins have kept them
from testing and might keep them from debuting at the March
Meet. Also of note is that Jeff Gaynor is still the President
of the Pete Jensen fan club…this organization recognizes
Pete’s “off track” accomplishments by
the way.
Stop the presses, this just in. Long time Midwest independent
Funny Car racer, Rocky Ausec, is finishing up a ‘71
Mustang to wreak havoc on the Cali boys when the guys from
the West go east this summer. This thing has a huge Chevy
in it and will burn alky unless we really tick him off.
He calls his entry “Solid Rock.” He also seems
to have some internet troublemakers on his crew, who’d
a thunk that?
All right, since this is my column, this part is about
me; well, me and Jeff Gaynor, that is. As of now, I’m
still driving Gaynor’s funny. It is true that Gaynor
has said that he will change anything on the car to win…
including the driver, so I’m minding my Ps and Qs
to continue driving the “Hard Times” entry.
We still have Zak Hawthorne, Bill Sweeney and Pammy as
crew. We also get some P.R. help from Darr Hawthorne as
well. Big news is that we just signed Justice Brothers for
2005 and we have all of the good folks who helped us last
year back on board for this year.
So not to let Brendan Murry steal any of our thunder when
it comes to thank yous, here is our list: Deanna Gaynor,
Mike Demarest, Dale Pulde, Randy Hoggard, Bob Hansen, Robert
Reehl, Ralph Gorr, East West Bob, Bob Godfrey, Pro Nitro,
Control Cable, Brad Anderson, Steve Pluegar, Victory Race
Cars, Mert Littlefield, Goodyear Tire, Lenco, Taylor Motorsports,
DJ Safety, Henry Velasco, Speedscene Racing radio and the
amazing Standard Abrasives. Oh, and thanks to Full Throttle
News… but only if we make the cover.
So finally, our season is going to start. Hopefully our
car will run as well as our mouths have in the off season!
See you at the races!
