At this time, the VRA also said we would need
a smaller motor. We were at 484. 470 was the cubic inch
limit they would enforce for 2005, down from 500. Wrong,
they changed their mind and kept it at 500 cubic inches
for 2005. After we went to a 440 combination. Lucky
us.
So, even though it is June the car has been to two Goodguys
races and one test session that was actually an exercise
in what percentage VHT to alcohol should a track crew use
in 100 degree temperatures. Basically, we have had crappy
luck and it is time for it to turn.
Even though it sounds bleak, we are confident
that we will haul ass this summer. Gaynor and Pulde found
some things in the bell housing that were askew and Goodyear
took care of us in the tire department. It has been a tough
few weeks with lots of thrashing and frayed nerves and I'm
actually looking forward to the car being out on the road
and not in front of me wanting to be worked on.
And just where can you stop by, heckle and
generally harass us?
First stop is Indy for the 17th edition of
the Goodguys Hot Rod Nationals, June 10th through the 12th.
We will be match racing the fearsome yellow Camaro of the
Mill Road Boys all three days. Tons of cool things happen
at this race with thousands of show cars and a special Super
Stock exhibition. Check out http://www.good-guys.com/index.asp
for what's going on.
Next stop for our traveling freak show will
be Columbus, Ohio, on July 8th for the eighth edition of
the Goodguys PPG Nationals, where once again we may be taking
on the Mill Road Boys at the Friday night drag portion of
the event.
But the main event at least for now on our
calendar is July 9th in Dallas, Georgia, for Southeastern
Dragway's 50th anniversary. At this event, we get to take
on Virgil Hartman and his Running Wild Mustang. Lots more
than just us going on, though, so check this out for all
the happs. www.southeasterndragway.com
Ok, that's it. I'm putting this month's column
to bed and I'm going to sleep.
