CAPPS SNAKE BITTEN???
As
of Sunday night Ron Capps still has two more
years left on his contract with the Snake -
but there sure is lots of interest in his services
for next season. First Force is rumored to want
Ron in a new dragster possibly tuned by Jimmy
Prock, but according to the 13-time Champ any
possible deal is pending sponsorship issues
as John may end up with the AAA livery on his
on Castrol-backed Mustang if some things are
not resolved with his sponsors.
Capps is rumored to be in line for a seat in
a fourth Don Schumacher Racing funny car seat
with plans on the table for a die cast model
of the new car and sponsor arrangement if this
comes to pass. If this new team comes about
Ed "Ace" McCulloch who gave his notice
to Doug Herbert at Vegas, will tune it. The
Ace had just received a signing bonus as part
a new contract he recently signed with DougZilla -
a bonus he will give back. As of Sunday night
Capps has not signed any contract anyone other
than his current deal with Don Prudhomme Racing.
Well if all this intrigue isn't enough,
Snake is still looking for sponsorship money
to replace SKOAL Green on the Monte Carlo to
keep the team and Capps together for the next
two years. The odd thing is that many of these
deals may very well be pending the same sponsorship
deal and in the mean time Capps is just twisting
in the wind without any hint of what he will
be driving in 2005. [10-31-2004]
MOPAR
TO SCHUMACHER - REALLY!
On the MOPAR pro stock front both Kevin Miller
from MOPAR Parts and John Fernandez of Dodge
Motorsports were in Vegas to finalize 2005 team
plans. The deal is done for the Schumacher Racing
Jeg's MOPAR to be driven by Jeg Coughlin with
a second car that is strongly rumored to be
going to sport compact hitter and part time
drifter Shawn Carlson. [10-31-2004]
NYUK NYUK NYUK!!!!
The other side of the deal involves the "Three
Stooges" of Larry Morgan, Kenny Koretsky and
V. Gaines. The contracts are being typed as
the Agent writes this, but this part is for
Hemi's, parts, aerodynamic engineering, Stratus
bodies, but no cash. The Agent confirmed all
this with Gaines and Koretsky and while Koretsky
still maintains a complete GM Cavalier operation
he wants to remain in the MOPAR camp. [10-31-2004]
