IT'S GREEK TO ME
Jim Oddy's 'Vette, which originally came
across the Pacific Ocean from
Murray Anderson's shop in Australia to Oddy's shop in Buffalo, NY, is making
another long journey across an ocean but this time the Atlantic.
Greek racer Fil Papafilippou has purchased Oddy's 'Vette
turnkey. The 'Vette won both IHRA and NHRA World Championships
and ran the quickest ever legal Pro Mod lap. Mr. Papafilippou
says he is going to race the 'Vette on the European Pro
Modified circuit. We'll have our European correspondent,
Ivan Sansom, keep an eye on it next season. (Jeff

TUTTEROW GOES 3.99/193 ON DOT'S
Todd
Tutterow's Mustang, powered by a small block 406 Ford with
a screw Blower, ran a 3.990 at 193 mph on Hoosier 35x22.5x16

1/8th mile. The Mustang ran the 330 in 2.649! According
to the Agent's source, on that pass the Mustang's Racepak
G meter numbers were better than those when his NOS-equipped
Willys ran a 4.024. [12-7-2004]
FONTANA MAKING IMPROVEMENTS

has begun on the quarter-mile dragstrip located at California
Speedway in Fontana, and the strip will reopen for its 2005

net for the end of the strip
and a new sound system with speakers near the grandstands
and throughout the pits.
A new 60-foot tower will replace the current tower and
will be placed just east of the strip to house timing and
scoring as well as race control. According to track manager
Dave Danish, the 2005 season is packed with drag racing
action and there are only a couple of open weekends left.
An NHRA Division 7 out of division event is scheduled for
September 15–18. [12-7-2004]
