GEE, GM CHANGES PRO STOCKS

According to one of the Agent’s operatives in the Motor City, Mike Dzurilla’s Bullet Motorsports team and Victor Cagnazzi Racing have received the backing of GM Racing for the coming year in NHRA Pro Stock.  With Jeg Coughlin heading to the Schumacher Mopar Pro Stock camp, that GM sponsorship needed a new home.

A spokesman from the Cagnazzi camp said that rookie Erica Enders will be the primary driver with Steve Johns changing his focus over to their existing in-house engine development program joining Roy Simmons and Nick Ferri.

Grumpy Jenkins’ power carried the Connolly-driven Cavalier (shown) to a #3 NHRA Pro Stock points finish behind Greg Anderson’s team cars. BRISTOL DRAGWAY TO EXPAND

Keeping in line with the new trend for luxury at racing venues, Bristol Dragway will undergo a major expansion for the 2005 season. The expansion includes 3,400 seats in

Thunder Terrace, which will rise above the existing grandstand. Ten corporate suites will be at the top, including Bruton's Suite, which will be available to the public. The Thunder Valley Club will double in size to nearly 1,000 seats. The Club offers premium pit-side seating at the starting line, a private patio next to the track, free breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday and complimentary water, tea and lemonade, along with a cash bar, private restrooms, and closed-circuit television.

Named for track owner Bruton Smith, the Bruton's Suite will offer individuals premier seating inside a climate-controlled environment behind floor-to-ceiling windows. It will have a covered veranda, a free buffet and a cash bar for beer and wine coolers, along with private restrooms and closed-circuit television.

Ah yes, the times they are a-changing. You certainly don't want to get any clutch dust or rubber flecks on your Armani suit as you sip your wine cooler.  [1-3-2005]
