A NEW KILLER RED 'MATER'
Larry Jeffers and Scotty Cannon verified to Agent 1320
that they have entered into an agreement that will put Scott
Cannon Jr. into a Jeffers Pro Cars '53 'Vette for the 2005
season. Scott Cannon will be the driver and dad Scotty will
tune, while seeking a ride in a Top Fuel car.
"I needed a new car and Larry offered his. I saw a
sample of his work at Indy so when he called I decided to
take him up on the offer," Cannon Senior said.
Scott Cannon is flying into St. Louis this weekend to be
fitted to the
Pro Mod 'Vette, which has been driven on a limited schedule
the last two years by Bill Hill.

Hill
graciously stepped aside to allow Cannon to drive the car
and Jeffers told the Agent that he will work with Hill to
get another car to replace the 'Vette. Scotty Cannon told
the Agent that he and Scott will probably concentrate on
running the IHRA circuit but that they haven't made firm
commitments either way.
"It's a long time until the first Pro Mod race of
2005 at Gainesville and we're keeping our options open.
Our sponsors and sponsorship will dictate where we race,"
said Cannon. [12-8-2004]
CHIP GETS THE BIRD
The Agent reported earlier that Thomas Patterson was going
to get the first Superbird out of the Vanishing Point Race
Car shops but the Agent was told last weekend in Florida
that Chip King will get the first Superbird and Patterson
the second. With brother Bill Barrett tuning, the Agent
thinks that bird will fly! [12-8-2004]
GUNDERSON FIRST AFD CASUALTY?
The
Agent hears that after a long week of trying to make his
AFD perform up to par at 96 percent and basically failing,
Michael Gunderson is so disgusted that he is putting his
entire operation up for sale. The Agent wonders if more
of the injected nitro racers might bail instead of spending
a lot of money to make their cars competitive. Wonder how
Ashley Force and her somewhat famous dad will react. Her
car owner Jerry Darrien is known to be very frugal. (Adam
