KING DEMON EVENT MOVES FROM
E-TOWN
TO CHI-TOWN
The NHRA King Demon Crown, an all-star event
that showcases Pro Stock teams, will be moved
from Englishtown to Chicago for 2004. The move
was necessary because of the schedule changes
of the first Chicago event to May 20-23 and
the E-town event to the following month.
"I certainly recognize the history and tradition
that Englishtown has developed as the longtime
host of the King Demon Crown, but since the

to the middle of June, I wanted to keep the
King Demon Crown in the spring where there is
a better chance to have cool weather conditions
that can create optimum performance for Pro
Stock cars," said Barry Grant, sponsor of the
King Demon Crown.
The King Demon Crown will take place on May
22, 2004 at Route 66 Raceway. The eight drivers
who have accumulated the most points in qualifying
during the bonus event series will compete in
the program. The winner will earn $50,000 and
the runner-up will earn $10,000. The two semifinalists
will receive $3,000 each and the four first
round finishers will each get $2,500. [3-2-2004]
BUILT IN TRINIDAD WITH PRIDE
We ran a 1320 note about the Party Time dragster
a while back just because it was a nice dragster
and the first time the Agent had received a
press release from a racer in Trinidad. They
kindly invited the Agent to visit the island
sometime and informed us that while the chassis
was built the states the dragster was built
entirely by them on the island. So here's another
photo and the acknowledgement of their work.
Maybe if some of the other Caribbean racers
and tracks get in contact with the magazine
we'll look at a trip to cover some drag races
in the area. [3-2-2004]
NITRO INTERN
Brandon
Haliburton, a 20-year old student at the Universal
Technical Institute in Phoenix, has been selected
to be the second nitro intern by Bob Gilbertson's
Trick Tank nitro Funny Car team and will join
them at the 20th Annual NHRA Checker Schuck's
Kragen Nationals March 5-7 at Firebird International
Raceway.
Haliburton, who is studying Automotive/Diesel
Technology, is thrilled to have been picked.
"To get selected to work with the Trick Tank
Funny Car team is a dream come true," he said
between classes. "My classmates are so envious
and they're all coming out to the races to support
me. I just can't wait to get to Firebird Raceway
and get my hands dirty."
"I never thought that when we came up with
the nitro intern program it would be so well
received" remarked Gilbertson. "We had over
4,500 entries and it was really tough to pick
the winners." [3-2-2004]
