ROBBINS RIPS IN TESTING
Instead
of joining many of his Outlaw 10.5 competitors
in Savannah, GA, on Apr. 24, Terry Robbins spent
the day testing his brand-new 2002 Camaro at
Carolina Dragway in Jackson, SC. With a three-stage
nitrous-equipped Fulton 686 between the front
rails, the car, built by The Race Factory in
Hampton, GA, came straight off the trailer with
an impressive 1.12 sixty-foot time on its way
to a 4.88-second pass. The Mooresville, NC-based
racer then improved to a 1.10 sixty-footer and
4.70 at 153 mph in his second pass. The Agent
expects the competition to be gunning for this
outlaw in short order. (Ian

ODDY VETTE TO G-FORCE
Jim Oddy confirmed to Agent 1320 that he will
be taking his Summit Racing Equipment 2004 Corvette
to G-Force Race Cars in Tonawanda, NY after
the NHRA AMS Pro Mod race at Bristol Apr. 30-May
2. Driver Fred Hahn drove the 'Vette to a 6.14/229
lap that put the team on the pole by nearly
a half-tenth at the IHRA race at Rockingham,
but Oddy and the rest of the crew feel the non-adjustable
front-strut suspension currently on the car

them from tuning the chassis as much as they
would like. They will have G-Force front-half
the chassis and install adjustable struts in

IHRA ALKY FUNNY CAR TEAMS GET WARNING
After a lot of oildowns by the Alky Funny Cars
at the first two IHRA national events, the IHRA
management team had a drivers-only meeting at
Rockingham to inform the teams that if the drivers
and teams don't find a way to cut way down on
the number of oildowns then IHRA will take steps
to fix the problem. [4-27-2004]
CARTER AILING
According
to racing partner Mike Langston, Outlaw 10.5
racer Sherman Carter suffered "a small heart
attack," prompting doctors to perform surgery
on him Apr. 26, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Apparently, the doctors found four blocked arteries
and put stents in two of them, with hope to
treat the others with medication. The Agent
hopes to see Sherman back on track soon. (Ian
