NO BULL
The last time hot rod artist Kenny Youngblood
visited "Monster Garage," host Jesse James and
his team turned a Ford Ranchero into a mechanical
bull ride. Who knows what is planned the next
time? Youngblood wouldn't say, but did hint
that the "donor" vehicle is a very cool and
completely new car model. The Discovery Channel
show is tentatively scheduled to air on June
14. [4-13-2004]

VANDERGRIFF RETURNS TO TOP
FUEL RACING

After a three-year absence from the NHRA POWERade
Drag Racing Series, Bob Vandergriff, Jr., is
planning a return to Top Fuel racing next month
in Commerce, Ga., during the 24th annual Summit
Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals. He
plans to add more races to this tear's schedule
as sponsorship permits, with the goal of participating
in all 23 events next season.
One of the keys to Vandergriff's program has
been the addition of Rob Flynn as crew chief.
"Once Rob became available, we decided to accelerate
our plans," Vandergriff said. "I believe that
Rob is one of the best young crew chiefs out
there and unfortunately he hasn't been given
the opportunity to show that the last few places
he has been at."
Vandergriff's last final round appearance came
in 2000 at Phoenix. He has six final round appearances
on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series tour
including his first one at Indianapolis in 1995.
