MORE RULE CHANGES FOR IHRA PRO MOD CLASS?

The Agent heard from several very reliable sources that IHRA is seriously considering yet another rule change for the supercharged cars in their Pro Modified class. According to the Agent's sources, the word went around after the NHRA Houston race, where no nitrous car qualified and 230's were cheap, that before the NHRA race at Bristol supercharged Pro Mods will be restricted to 20 percent overdrive down from the current 24 percent.

If the nitrous oxide racers are convinced this is going to happen the Agent wonders how many of them will burn an engine trying to qualify in the top half of the field at Rockingham? IHRA was emailed concerning this issue and so far no answer has come back to DRO. [4-20-2004]

MANSFIELD TESTS FOR ROCKINGHAM

Rob Mansfield took a few laps at last weekend's PRO Edelbrock race in Bradenton, Fla. to get Billy Dingman's Sonny Leonard Hemi-powered Grand Am Pro Stocker ready for competition at the April 23-26 IHRA Spring Nationals in Rockingham, NC. With Tony Christian on hand offering some clutch advice, Mansfield made it to the semis at Bradenton. Can't wait to see what they do at the Rock. (Steve Gruenwald photo) [4-20-2004]
