NOTES AND QUOTES
A couple of times recently people have asked
about verifying the horsepower that a nitro
engine produces, since a lot of numbers are
being thrown around. One of the Agent's operatives
said that a couple of years ago one of the premier
teams put instrumentation on a car that showed
their fuel motor was producing 7700+ hp. That
was two years ago.
The Agent also got a note telling us that the
new Pro Stocker we showed in a spy photo recently
in 1320 notes wasn't going to be driven by Greg
Anderson but instead by Jason

Line.
According to our source the older Bickel chassis
line is currently is approximately 75 pounds
heavier than Anderson's car.
Finally, we heard this great quote from Bret
Kepner during a group discussion about the cost
of running a professional class drag car versus
other sports. One person mentioned that in a
recent interview a Nextel Cup team owner was
quoted as saying the cost of running a single
car team for one season, if you had all of the
support equipment already in place, was $13,000,000!
To which Kepner said, "and that's for a car
with 355 cubic inch gasoline burning engine
with a single four-barrel carb that weighs 3,000
lbs!" Now there is something to consider when
the cost of running a two-car Pro Stock team
is rumored to be about $1,500,000 per year!

OUR
SHINING STAHR
The Agent bids a misty-eyed "See ya later,
kid" to DRO production assistant and copy editor,
Alyssa Stahr, who is leaving the office, but
not leaving Drag Racing Online. Stahr, who received
a journalism degree from St. Louis University
in May, is moving to Chicago but will continue
her DRO editing duties. We'll miss her sparkling
personality and cheerful voice. Charlie, the
office cat, will have to give his bites of affection
to the Agent, and Margarita Fridays just won't
be the same. [6-25-2004]
