JUNE IS FOR NOSTALGIA NUTS

For nostalgia nuts needing a dose of nitro and fast cars, June is shaping up to be a big month with strong drag racing shows on every weekend all across the USA. First off, June 11-13 the 16th Goodguys Hot Rod Nationals presented by Advance Auto Parts will hit Indianapolis Raceway Park (Hwy 136 in Clermont) with thousands of hot rods, muscle cars, customs and classics. Seventy-year-old flopper pilot Joe Jacono will drive a restoration of his original "Rollin' Stoned" '73 Cuda and Linda Vaughn (photo above), the First Lady of Auto Racing, will be honored with the Spotlight Award. Then returning to Pomona Raceway at the Fairplex, Goodguys presents the 7th Annual Pomona Nitro Nationals on June 25-26 with nitro funny cars and top fuel dragsters, gassers and altereds. "Parker Avenue" will stay open until 10 p.m. with Friday qualifying and Saturday eliminations under the lights blasting down the legendary quarter mile. There will also be a full Goodguys car show and high performance swap meet.

NDRA CLEANS UP

The NOPI Drag Racing Association has signed Procter & Gamble's Mr. Clean AutoDry(tm) as their official car-wash product. As part of a licensing agreement between P&G and NOPI, packages of the product will carry the official NOPI trademarks.
