LYNN SAYS 'NO NITROUS'
Agent 1320 got this note regarding the rumor
about Steve Vick joining the AMS team from spokesman
Jeff Lynn: "Regarding your article of 7-16-04
concerning AMS and Steve Vick. Please be advised
that the Agent was dead wrong. We don't even
know Steve Vick and the last thing we would
do is put a nitrous car on a team where the
head of Kobelco is our

crew
chief. Our truck was sent to Vick's shop to
pick-up a piece of machinery..."
Thanks for clearing up that little rumor for the Agent and the readers. [7-26-2004]
WAGNER REPLACEMENT RUMOR!
One of the Agent's sources called to say that
the word going around at NHRA headquarters in
Glendora is that NHRA's current Vice President-Marketing,
Gary Darcy, will replace the soon to be departed
Bob Wagner and assume his duties as VP-Sales
and Business Marketing. It's just a rumor at
this point but it would make sense for NHRA
to fill that position in that manner as a short
term solution and take their time finding new
talent to fill that important position. [7-26-2004]
GRINDING THE POINT
In an effort to make the racing even better, Infineon Raceway (that's Sears Point for you old timers) spent the week prior to the upcoming 17th annual Fram/Autolite NHRA Nationals grinding the drag strip surface to remove any imperfections.
As VP of Media Relations of Infineon Raceway John Cardinale told the Agent, "We just felt the strip wasn't as smooth as we would like, so we decided to grind it. We feel it has been one of the best drag strips in the country the last two years, and we wanted to make sure it performed at that level again this weekend."
A tip of the Agent's Fedora to Seattle1s Pacific Raceway President Jason Fiorito
and Infineon's Facility Manager Jere Starks
for addressing problems and providing two-lane
racetracks for the Western Swing. [7-26-2004]
RAYS RETURN
At
the NHRA/AMS race in St Louis the Ohio Crankshaft
Pro Mod Corvette, driven by Scott Ray, suffered
a parachute failure and ended up in the catch
net. The entire front end was destroyed, and
the blower hat was sheared off and put through
the windshield, also damaging the roof and destroying
all of the fuel system, plus other parts.
Crew chief Stan Ray reports the car is 100% repaired and ready to go. "We could not have done it without the help of Kenny Ferrell Composites, Jeff Fowler, Don's Body Shop, and the O.C. shop crew. We were also able to build a new engine with several new components. At this time last year we had the car running pretty good and we need to pick up the pace now."
The team will be the IHRA ACDelco Canadian
Nationals July 30-Aug. 1. (photo
