IS THAT A QUACK?
There has been some speculation going around
that Mitch Stott has joined the Tommy Lipar
Pro Mod team. A representative from the Lipar
team called Agent 1320 to set the record straight.
According to him, Mitch won’t be part
of the team but Mitch (above left) and his
tuner, Jimmy Rector, will be loaned one of
Lipar Racing’s Brad Anderson motors to
use instead of the Ken Veney Hemi they now
have. Rector and Lipar tuner/crew chief Howard
Moon will be sharing data, however, according
to Lipar’s spokesman.
Let’s see—both cars will use the
same engine and share data but they won’t
be teammates? Hmm. The Agent says if it walks
like a duck and quacks like a duck then it’s
probably a duck.
Speaking of the Tommy Lipar team, the Agent
hears that if he gets the doctor’s clearance,
Von Smith will be back in the seat of the Dr.
Moon’s Rage Mustang perhaps for Indy.
And speaking of the Dr. Moon’s Rage,
the Agent saw Jimmy Rector being very involved
in that camp at Memphis. Could Rector already
be sharing info with Dr. Moon? (Ian

HEMI HORSEPOWER WARS IN
PRO MOD
Evidently the trick of the week for some supercharged
Pro Mod racers is to switch engines. Until
recently many of the supercharged cars had
Ken Veney style Hemi power plants. Now many
are making wholesale changes to Brad Anderson-built
Hemis which reportedly make 200 more horsepower
than a Veney. Among those making the change
to or using BA engines include both of the
Stott brothers, Tommy Lipar Racing (see note
above) and newcomer Richie Stevens.
The Agent can make a few observations on this
trend. Didn’t Jim Oddy and Fred Hahn
run the fastest Pro Mod speed ever under the
new 20% overdrive at 231.72 mph at Martin,
MI? And hasn’t Zach Barklage, who also
has a Veney style motor, consistently been
one of the fastest cars on either circuit this
year? This is not say that fine Brad Anderson
Motors won't dominate, just an observation. [8-27-2004]
MITCH STOTT TO FUEL FUNNY
RUMOR!
Mitch Stott has told the Agent and nearly
everyone else that would listen that he is
finished with racing Pro Mod at IHRA after
this season. Ditto for his sponsor Radiac’s
Dave Pryor who has expressed his dissatisfaction
with the direction both the NHRA and IHRA Pro
Mod series have taken (the Agent just thought
that Dave was indicating that IHRA was number
one with that hand signal).
In the past Mitch has floated a rumor about
Top Fuel and recently mentioned a Fuel Funny
Car or even Pro Stock as a possible 2005 option
for Pro Mod’s own “Mouth of the
South.”
Mitch Stott in a Pro Stock? Ewwww. [8-27-2004]
CORRECTION TO CMTS PAYOUT
In our recent story about the CMTS Outlaw
Pro Mods at St. Louis, Jeff Burk mistakenly
printed that the series pays qualifiers $500.
THAT IS NOT THE CASE! That series actually
pays $100 to qualify. Burk has been barred
from the DRO office-sanctioned “Margarita
Friday” affair until further notice for
this grievous error and we bought him a new
pair of reading glasses at Walgreens. [8-27-2004]
