TSRA TO HOLD QUICK 8 AT DIV. 2 RACES

GUAM OPENS NEW DRAGSTRIP

Still trying to put together your race schedule for 2005? If you're headed for the Pacific Ocean rim, here's a new stop for you. Guam International Raceway just opened its 76 Circle K Drag Strip on Jan. 22 with a crowd estimated at more than 5,000 and about 100 racecars. A couple of racers from Saipan even shipped in a '91 Acura Integra to take on the locals. The track will hold night races every other Saturday. Check out www.dragguam.com. [1-24-2005]

RECOVERY FUND ESTABLISHED FOR TRACK WORKER

David Baldwin, a starting line worker at U.S. 19 Dragway, an eighth-miler near Albany, GA, was seriously burned in a brush fire on Jan. 17. He was taken to the burn center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA, where he is being treated for primarily third-degree burns covering more than 50 percent of his body. Baldwin's hospital stay is expected to last at least two months.
