BOYD, ROUBICEK SPLIT TOP COMP DOUBLEHEADER

John Boyd and Joe Roubicek earned wins in the SoCal Top Comp Association's doubleheader, held at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Jan. 22-23 during the NHRA Nitro Blast-off test session. John Boyd's "Saturday" win actually happened on Sunday, as racing was suspended Saturday evening due to the lateness of the hour. Boyd scored his win on Sunday morning while Roubicek (shown) won on Sunday evening.

Forty cars were entered in Saturday's show and 37 cars answered Sunday's call. The best effort for a Nevada driver was turned in by Gary Gilbert of Henderson. Gilbert lost in the semi-final on Sunday to Robert Tievs.

PMRA ADDS 2 TORONTO DATES

The Pro Modified Racing Association has added two racing dates at Toronto Motorsports Park as part of its five-race series for 2005.

The Kohler Road strip, just outside the town of Cayuga, Ontario, is Canada's oldest drag racing facility. The track is sanctioned by the IHRA and hosts the IHRA ACDelco Canadian Nationals every summer.

Joining the PMRA Pro Modified Racing Association at these events will be the Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series. The Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series was formed in 1996 and the participants are known for their awesome wheelies.

The PMRA will hold races at Toronto Motorsports Park May 20-22 and September 2-4. With the already-confirmed event at Luskville Dragway near Aylmer, Quebec, on July 1-3, the series now has three of its five planned events for this year and is continuing talks with other Ontario and Western New York state tracks to fill out its schedule.
