GOODGUYS ADD FUNNIES
TO INDY RACE
This year's Goodguys 17th Hot Rod Nationals, held at Indianapolis
Raceway Park June 10-12, will also feature a special Classic
Funny Car Shootout.
During the three big days of Goodguys' nostalgia drag racing
action there will be an eight-car, invitation-only, Chicago-style

invited are Lou Sgro's "Black Magic," Bob Rosetty's
new Chevy Vega, Dennis Salzwimmer's "Rubber City Thunder"
Monza and Rocky Ausec's "Solid Rock" flopper.
Other invitees include Rick Stambaugh's "New Generation"
Corvette, Rick Lawrence and his Minnesota Maniac Cuda and
the Klingerman Brothers' "Fuelish" Chevy Monza.
In addition to the alky funnies, there will be a best two
out of three, East versus West Classic Nitro funny car match-race
between the Mill Road Boys' Camaro driven by Steve Nichols
from the East and Jeff Gaynor's '70 Barracuda flopper from
the West. (Bret Kepner photo)

STEVENS TO DRIVE FOR SCHUMACHER
TEAM
As the Agent reported earlier, the worst-kept secret in
drag racing was finally made official as Don Schumacher
announced the addition of Richie Stevens, Jr. to his factory-backed
Mopar Pro Stock team. Stevens joins Jeg Coughlin, Jr. as
the second Pro Stock driver for Don Schumacher Racing in
the Team Mopar Hemi-powered Pro Stock Dodge Stratus, tuned
by Bob Glidden. Stevens brings his Valspar sponsor along
with him.
The legendary 10-time Pro Stock champion Glidden will act
as crew chief on both the Jeg's Mail Order/Mopar Dodge Stratus
and the Team Mopar Dodge driven by Stevens. [1-17-2005]
CORVO
LOOKING FOR NEW RIDE
One of the drivers disappointed by the Richie Stevens announcement
is Mike Corvo, Jr.
"We just couldn't put the right deal together,"
Corvo said," but I do want to thank Don for giving
me a shot."
Corvo and his associate sponsors are hoping to put together
a Pro Stock deal before the season starts, but as the Park
Ridge, Illinois racer said philosophically, "This is
not the first time I've spent January looking for a job."
