NORWALK RACEWAY PARK YET TO
COMMIT TO IHRA
DRO confirmed with IHRA president Aaron Polburn at Rockingham
that as of this weekend the management at NRP

has yet to sign a contract with the International Hot
Rod Association/Clear Channel Entertainment to hold a
2006 IHRA national event at the track. Since IHRA doesn’t
have a contract with NRP that means it legally could change
its sanctioning affiliation to the NHRA and host an NHRA
national event.
The Agent hears that the negotiations aren’t going
so well and the IHRA is reviewing its options. Say, didn’t
Dragway 42 in Ohio use to host AHRA Grand American events?
Stay tuned, this could become very entertaining. [10-31-2005]
HILL, BEADLE AND A NEW TOP FUEL
TEAM?
One rumor the Agent keeps hearing is that Roy Hill and
Raymond Beadle are going to bring out a Top Fuel team
in 2006. The Agent puts the odds at this happening at
100-1! One thing the Agent does know for sure is that
Hill is having a new doorslammer built by Jerry Haas Race
Cars. It was verified to the Agent by both Haas and Hill
themselves. [10-31-2005]
TOCHER
TAKING LESSONS
DRO Senior Editor Ian Tocher has decided that if he is
going to continue to write about, criticize, and observe
the sport of drag racing he needs to get some real seat
time in a fast race car. When he toiled as the editor
of a magazine devoted to the airline industry he obtained
his pilot's license. With that in mind, he will be attending
the Roy Hill Drag Racing School next month at the Valdosta,
GA track.
Those of you who have an axe to grind with our Senior
Editor are encouraged to attend the school, sit in the
stands, and report back to the Agent as to Mr. Tocher’s
expertise or lack there off. We’ll put the dates
and times of that school in a coming 1320 note! (Bret

75-80 DRAGWAY CLOSES
In an all too frequent scenario these days, the housing
developers are closing another dragstrip. The 75-80 Dragway,
opened in 1960 among pastures and cornfields near the
intersection of Routes 75 and 80 near Monrovia, Maryland,
is under a $3 million contract. As many as 1,600 houses
could be built. [10-31-2005]
RACER FATALLY INJURED AT FAMOSO
Ray Moore, a Sportsman racer from Santa Paula, CA, was
critically injured Oct. 29 during the Goodguys Fuel and
Gas Championships. Moore, 76, was driving his '67 Camaro
in C/Gas qualifications when his car suddenly veered to
the right, bounced off the concrete retaining wall and
spun down the track. Moore was cut from the car by the
track safety crew and then flown by helicopter to Kern
Medical Center where he died later that night. [10-31-2005]
