AWARDS FOR MSD
The folks at MSD are feeling pretty good about themselves
these days. Since MSD was bought from it original owners
in April, 2004 by an investment group headed up by Dan
Gresham, the company has acquired data logger company
Racepak. At the PWA awards at the just finished SEMA Show,
VP of sales and marketing Russell Stephens (shown) was
named person of the year and the company was won the manufacturer
of the year. A tip of the Agent’s fedora to the
folks at MSD. (photo courtesy

HILL AND JOHNSONS TEAMING UP
Now that the Agent has your attention you can take a deep
breath. Roy Hill isn’t joining the Johnson family
as a member of their race team, but Roy did call the Agent
to say that at his December 8-10 racing school in Valdosta,
GA, the Johnsons will be testing during the school and
will be assisting Hill with the students in some form
or fashion. What a deal. Get your license, attend a private
Warren Johnson Pro Stock test session and watch DRO Senior
Editor Ian Tocher drive his first drag car. Now that’s
what the Agent calls entertainment. [11-08-2005]
California Speedway in Fontana, CA, will announce a multi-million
dollar facility enhancement on November 14.
You
may remember the flurry of protests when the management
of the SoCal track was considering the disposition of
the California Dragway quarter mile. According to sources
close to the Speedway, the new enhancements will include
a dedicated dragstrip to be built in the northern parking
lot near the railroad tracks in a west to east configuration.
The Agent hears that both John Force and AAA of SoCal
President Thomas McKernan had thrown in their support
for the new track, since both have daughters who race
there regularly.
Congratulations to Speedway President Gillian Zucker for
listening to the protests. Now it’ll be SoCal drag
racing fans and racers' job to support the new facility
instead of whining when a dragstrip is threatened for
closure. As the Agent says, "Support your local dragstrip!"
