The IHBA Coors Light World Finals (The US Nationals of
drag boat racing) will attract over 250 of North America's
best drag boats on Nov. 17-20 at Charlie Allen's Firebird
International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona. The largest
field of Top Fuel Hydros in more than 20 years headline
what promises to be a "can't miss" event.

Three
drivers remain in contention for the World Championship.
John Haas driving the Lou Osman-owned, "Famous"
Amos Satterlee-tuned "Speed Sports Special"
Top Fuel Hydro from St. Louis, MO are the points leaders;
Glen Wilson in the San Francisco-based "Toxic Rocket"
is second, and multi-time World Champion Greg Tedesco
in the "Loose Cannon" from Reno, NV is third.
With 15 7,000 horsepower Fuelers, including World record
holder (4.77) Dale Isimaru in Eddie Knox's "Problem
Child," defending event winner Scooty Lumbert's "Public
Nuisance," and the long awaited return of Top Fuel
Hydro legend Ron Braaksma driving the all-new "Madness"
in attendance, cracking the eight boat starting lineup

JET CAR RACER SUCCUMBS
Hall of Fame drag racer Ancel Horton, 63, passed away
Nov. 4, 2005. Horton, known as "the Godfather of
jet car racing" by many in the racing community,
was a member of the Texas Drag Racing Hall of Fame, NHRA,
IHRA, ANDRA, ProJet, Racers for Christ and DRAW. He drove
more jet cars than any other driver and still currently
holds countless records. Horton is survived by his wife,
Peggie, a son, a daughter, and seven grandchildren. Funeral
services were held Nov. 8 at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial
Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. [11-10-2005]

AARWBA NAMES ALL-AMERICA RACING
TEAMS
Tony Schumacher and John Force were named to the American
Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association Auto
Racing All-American First Team. Gary Scelzi and Greg Anderson
were named to the Second Team.
Two drivers from each of seven categories — drag
racing, open wheel, stock car, road racing, short track,
touring series and at-large — were selected to the
first and second teams by the members of the motorsports
press association.
The driver receiving the most votes overall will be presented
the Jerry Titus Award as AARWBA's Driver of the Year.
Force won the Titus Award in 1996, 1999, 2000 and 2002.
