WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' SNOW!
The National Speed Association (www.nationalspeedassociation.com)
has been formed to establish a heads-up Pro Stock asphalt
snowmobile drag racing circuit. The NSA Pro Stock Snowmobile
Series will consist of three event qualifiers to be contested
at various IHRA sanctioned tracks. The top eight riders
in points will be invited to attend the NSA championship
event held during the Amalie Oil IHRA North American Nationals
in Epping, NH Sept. 9-11.
Powered by two- and four-stroke engines modified to make
225-350 horsepower, these vehicles run over 150 mph on little-bitty
wheels. Now THIS, the Agent has to see! (photo

'STREET WARRIORZ' SERIES BEGINS
Clear
Channel Entertainment and KUMHO Tire USA will launch a series
of "car culture events" call KUMHO Street Warriorz
at 18 IHRA drag strips around the country. The series will
be part drag race and part street festival. In addition
to on-track drag racing, the events will include ugly car
contests, decibel drags where car stereos battle it out
and burnout contests. There also will be an all-night party
with DJs and/or live bands, extreme sports demos, and (of
course) bikini contests.
As the press release says, Kumho tires and Clear Channel
are putting the Nightclub at the drag strips all throughout
the country." No comment from the Agent on this one.
If anyone is interested, the schedule is available at www.streetwarriorz.com.

CALIFORNIA HOT ROD REUNION HONOREES
NAMED
The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, presented by the
Automobile Club of Southern California, has announced the
Honorees for the 14th Annual NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion.
Dale Armstrong was named Grand Marshal for the event, Sept.
30-Oct. 2 in Bakersfield, CA. Leon Fitzgerald, Dave Wallace,
Sr., Dick Landy, Shirley Shahan, Bill Simpson and Dave Uyehara
will be those honored at the event. Tie votes by the selection
panel meant that six persons will be honored rather than
the normal five. The senior Wallace is father of DRO columnist
Dave Wallace, Jr. -- sure to be an honoree himself at a
future date. [2-16-2005]
