Duarte, CA. Here are a few of the stats on that car
from the 1982-83 season: 1) Set the record of qualifying
#1 at 10 of 12 events that year; 2) Set Low Elapsed Time
at 11 of 12 events; 3) Won five national events; 4) Won
The Last Drag Race at Orange County (CA) International
Raceway; 5) Won the IHRA World Finals in Bristol, TN.
Subsequently, driver Gary Beck, Minor, and Bernie Fedderly
were named by Car Craft Magazine as Persons of the Year,
Beck was inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall
of Fame, and both Beck and Fedderly were inducted into
the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame. What a combination
of talent. [2-18-2005]
DRO AND THE PUNISHER TEAM UP
DRO magazine has joined with Donnie Little and Terry Murphy's
Punisher Outlaw Pro Mod team in a major marketing agreement,
with Little and Murphy putting the magazine's logo on the
team's Camaro for the 2005 season.
"Donnie is going to do some traveling with the car
this year including attending a couple of ADRL races and
the second annual DRAGSTOCK," said DRO publisher Jeff
Burk. "We're always looking for ways to advertise
the magazine and the chance to get some major signage on
a championship caliber car doesn't come along too often.
When we had the chance to put something together with Donnie
and Terry I jumped at the chance. We did a small deal in
2004 to be on the front spoiler. This year we stepped the
program up." Burk added, "The fact that Donnie
and Terry got a Rickie Smith engine and signed up Smith
to consult helped me make the decision." [2-18-2005]
