Carrier Boyz Racing will enable Connolly, who sits third
in the Pro Stock points, to compete in the NHRA O'Reilly
Summer Nationals at Topeka.
The Agent hears that Dzurilla "loaned" the new
Cobalt to Connolly, Jenkins and the crew for one race only.
Wonder if Jenkins' engine program is part of the deal?
"Over the next few days and weeks, Carrier Boyz Racing
will continue to hold negotiations to expand our involvement
in this Pro Stock team," said Andy Carrier. "If
we are able to negotiate an agreement that is satisfactory
to both Mike Dzurilla and Carrier Boyz Racing then we will
operate the team as an integral part of our racing operation."
Dzurilla cites losses at his Mansfield (OH) Motorsports
Speedway half-mile oval track as the reason for being unable
to continue to fund the drag racing team. The Mansfield
track is now for sale. (Ian Tocher photo) [5-26-2005]
ARIZONA IS CIFCA 'GROUND ZERO'
The California Independent Funny Car Association made
its first appearance this season at Tucson's Southwestern
International Raceway on May 14. "Fast Jack" Beckman,
driving Dennis Murphy's Ground Zero Omni (shown), got the
final round win over No. 1 qualifier Paul Peterson in the
AMP Motorsports Avenger. With both cars running 7.52, the
margin of victory was fixed at the light when Beckman cut
a .421 against Peterson's .437. (photo
