DEMAREST SERVICES SCHEDULED
Funeral services for Mike Demarest, who passed away last
week, will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 27 at Annunciation
Catholic Church, 1307 E. Longden Avenue in Arcadia, CA.
His family has asked that a donation be made to the City
of Hope in his name, in lieu of flowers. Mail contributions

Who says drag racing is all we do at DRO? West Coast Editor
Darr Hawthorne and his photog son Zak took on Ventura Speedway's
1/4 mile dirt track over the weekend. The pair attended
Cory Kruseman's Sprint Car diving school to eat a little
dirt. Other than a humbling throttle miscue on an early
lap for Darr, Zak prevailed as the future star of the sprint
cars to go right along side Kruseman's buddies Gary Scelzi
and Ron Capps in the "A Main". (Zak

POLITICAL EXPEDIENCY?
Nevada
Secretary of State Dean Heller (left) and Las Vegas
Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Bill Young drag raced
against each other during the June 23rd Thursday Night Street
Wars at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Heller defeated
the sheriff two-for-two in competition.

FORCES AT NORWALK

only will John Force and his Funny Car team be competing at
Norwalk Raceway Park's "Night Under Fire" on July
2, but his daughter Ashley (shown) will be competing as well
for her third year in a row at Norwalk.
With Troy Coughlin reportedly testing this week at Norwalk,
will he make some test runs in front of the 30,000+ spectators
