LIVE LE MANS COVERAGE ON THE INTERNET JUNE 17-18
In what could be a major turning point in live electronic motorsports coverage, General Motors will connect viewers from around the world to race data from its Cadillac LMP and Corvette C5-R race cars as they compete in the fabled 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

By tuning to www.gm.com, race fans will be able to view telemetry data from the four Cadillac and Corvette entries, including speed, braking, rpm and lateral G-force data. The "GM Experience @ Le Mans" will also provide visitors to the site with real-time positions of the cars on the course. A unique visual experience for race spectators will be the ability to see the race through the drivers' eyes during the day and even at night through in-car cameras and the first ever road racing use of Cadillac's exclusive Night Vision technology.

BACH & GOULD MAKE FORD HISTORY AT INDY
Fred Bach and Larry Gould made history of sorts on June 11th when Bach captured the Top Fuel B Main at Indianapolis Raceway Park's 12th annual Hot Rod Nationals. Bach and Gould run a SOHC 427-cid Ford "cammer" in their front-engined fuel dragster and their win was the first of any kind for such a combination since 1970. (If memory serves us well, the late Pete Robinson's win at the 1970 IHRA All-American or Fall Nationals in October was the last big Ford win).

The Indy show was headlined by 16 qualified front-engined Top Fuel dragsters; the first eight in Top Fuel A Main, the second octet in the B Main. Bach qualified ninth, making him number one for the B program, and went through three rounds to claim the first place money.

Crew chief Gould said after the race, "We tuned it up for our last qualifying run and dropped two cylinders, so I just backed it off a bit, got where I wanted to be and stayed there. We ran a 6.60 in round one, a 6.59, and a final round 6.58 and never took the heads or the blower off. Didn't hurt a thing. In fact, the only thing we changed were the rod bearings and clutch in eliminations."

"GREEK" SHOWS UP WITH NEW "CHIZLER"
Hall of Fame Top Fuel great Chris Karamesines, the quickest and fastest septegenarian (72) in auto racing history, debuted a new car at Route 66. "The Greek's" new "Chizler" is the 1997 Brad Hadman-chassied/Team Winston world champ car, and the consensus is that if this legendary vet ever runs a "4" at 300-mph, he's now got the cannon to do it. Lou Cavalieri set the purchase up three months ago, and in the interim two months, Karamesines put the car together at his Chicago shop. Dean Skuza crew chief, Lance Larsen, will advise in the early going as "the Greek" and longtime teammates Larry Lonas and B.B. "Krazy" Collum get used to all the new stuff. Karamesines just made one full pass, a test-the-water 5.71, 238.64 Saturday morning.
