DRO resident Nitro Guru and the mayor of "Gouldsville" a suburb of Belleville, Ill. Larry Gould took his Ford 'Cammer front-motored Top Fueler to Cordova Dragway for a nostalgia front motored meet. Gould and driver Fred Bach were trying some new parts including a just installed 44amp MSD Mag. Gould assessed the mag: "It really made the car haul at the top end of the track and the car just smoked the tires every lap."

Nevertheless, the pair made it to the finals on Sunday and had low elapsed time for the day at 6.641. However, they were running the Dale Suhr car which had run a 5.91/249 on Saturday. Bach knew he needed to cut a light but pushed too hard and bulbed. The team DRO car came away with runner-up money. Next race for the team is July 8-9 at National Trail Raceway just outside Columbus, Ohio

SO THAT'S WHY NHRA'S TICKETS ARE SO HIGH
Agent 1320 was finally given a somewhat reasonable explanation for what many think are the too expensive tickets for an NHRA event. As it was explained to the Agent evidently Wall Street is to blame. Seems like the men in charge at NHRA want to impress "The Street" with the earnings potential of NHRA drag racing.

One way to do that is to make the price for tickets high enough that an event has the potential to make a lot of money if a majority of the tickets available get sold. This might be a good plan if NHRA events were selling a lot of tickets, but a very reliable source told the Agent that through the St. Louis race all of this year's NHRA events are down in attendance anywhere from 3.5% to 15% compared to last year. Certainly the potential for big bucks is there, but so far reality sucks!
