ROMINE SHOULD EARN FREQUENT FLYER
MILES COMPETING BOTH NHRA AND IHRA This week the CARQUEST team leaves its Indianapolis base and travels 1,867 miles to Kent, Washington for the Prolong Super Lubricant Northwest Nationals. Once the Prolong Northwest Nationals are completed, the CARQUEST team will pack up and travel 1,814 back east next week to compete at the IHRA CARQUEST Auto Parts Northern Nationals in Stanton, Michigan, before finally making the short trip home, 249 mile back to Indianapolis, a roundtrip total of 3,930 miles over a two-week span. "Some people will say we're crazy, but we've got a great crew and sponsors, including event sponsor Prolong, who believe in covering all markets with us," Paul Romine said. "It is nearly impossible to run both NHRA and IHRA because of scheduling conflicts and different rules, but our team is proud to be competitive in both series and I'm not sure how many teams could do this, it's definitely a marathon of nitro." NHRA GOES HOLLYWOOD; TO STAGE ANNUAL AWARDS
CEREMONY AT UNIVERSAL AMPHITHEATRE "Southern California was the birthplace of modern drag racing. There is no question that Hollywood was the birthplace of the entertainment industry," said Tom Compton, president of the NHRA. "It is natural, then, to move the world's largest motorsports sanctioning body's annual award show to the spotlight of the world's premier entertainment complex."
