IHRA CANADIAN TRACK BEHIND SCHEDULE

Agent 1320 hears that the new IHRA national event track being built on the site of the former Cayuga Dragway Park in Canada for a race scheduled in August 2002 is not progressing very fast. The Agent got a call from a Canadian source who reports that not much has been done except for taking down part of the old bridge across the track. Seems like it was too cold to pave in Canada. Oh well, August is a long way off and Bill Bader has been known to perform miracles.

NOW THIS IS WHAT WE CALL 'CARRYING A TORCH!'

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. was up early on Thursday, January 3, to be part of the .004 of one percent of the population to take part in the 2002 Olympic Torch Relay. Coughlin carried the torch through part of his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

The Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Torch Relay began in Atlanta on December 4, 2001, with Mohammed Ali starting the 13,500-mile trip through 46 states. By the time it arrives in Salt Lake City for the start of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games on February 8, it will have been carried by more than 11,500 Relay participants.

"Running in the Olympic Torch Relay was a euphoric experience. When the flame was transferred to the torch that I was carrying from the previous Torchbearer it was very uplifting and it instantly put a smile on my face. I held the torch with my right hand and the adrenaline kicked in as I started my leg of the 13,500-mile journey to The 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City," explained the 2000 NHRA Pro Stock Champion.

The day was made even more special for Jeg Jr. as the date marked his wife Karen's birthday.
