APB: GARY TAYLOR'S CAR & TRAILER STOLEN AT LAS
VEGAS
Be on the look-out for a dragster, race car trailer and contents stolen
April 4th from The Strip. The rig belongs to Division 7 Super Comp racer
Gary Taylor and his name was on the upper sides of the car, which is
a 1998 Chip Nielson dragster, blue with yellow graphics, and a damaged
nose with duct tape on it. CNE is engraved on several parts. The trailer
is a white 45-foot Haulmark Edge fifth-wheel. It has living quarters
in the front, dual air-conditioning units, and a satellite system. A
piece of chrome corner trim is torn on the left rear corner of the trailer.
It had a Utah license plate number 12630M.
Anyone with an information about the theft or current location of the
trailer or race car should contact the Las Vegas police department or
Gary Taylor at 801-785-8199 or 801-509-2544.
JOHNNY GRAY CREW MEMBERS INJURED IN ACCIDENT
Three crew members of Johnny Gray's Funny Car team were injured April
9 in a one-car roll-over accident in the team's Chevrolet Suburban after
leaving the Las Vegas race. The team was returning to their Carlsbad,
New Mexico home.
Jered Nichols, a 22-year-old engine specialist, suffered cuts and bruises
but was in good condition. Robert Beresford, a 29-year-old cylinder
head technician, has multiple broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a possible
broken ankle, and back injuries.
Most seriously injured was Clayton Williams, the team's 22-year-old
clutch technician. He received a severe blow to the head, which resulted
in brain swelling, a life threatening injury.
SFX, KENNY BERNSTEIN AND IHRA
The
best rumor that Agent 1320 has heard lately comes from one of our east
coast operatives. According to this rumor SFX has approached the Bernstein
camp and asked if Kenny might consider running the Bud King at some
IHRA events in the 2002 season for a $50,000 up front fee. This sounds
farfetched until you consider the amount of money SFX has to spend,
the lack of talent depth at IHRA Top Fuel fields and the crowd draw
that Kenny and the Bud King might have at an IHRA event. Hmmm.
