ANOTHER STUDE

Agent 1320 received these photos of yet another '53 'Studebaker Pro Mod race car. Studebakers are beginning to get as common as '63 split window Corvettes. This particular Stude is being built for Mark Mitchell by the G-Force Race Cars shop in Tonawanda, NY. According to the Agent's source, the car has a "secret" four-link and cowl induction system. The car will first have a carbureted powerplant, but will be getting a twin-turboed small block sometime in the future.

THE KRISHER-KORETSKY-SMITH-EDWARDS SAGA CONTINUES

Ron dumped Mike. Or somehow they split up. Rickie left Kenny. Rickie and Ron got together. Kenny’s OK with that, and so is Mike. But Ron is still steamed, although Mike is the one who’ll get hurt most. It’s the latest episode of "All My Pro Stock Children."

Rickie Smith, who had been team manager for Kenny Koretsky, announced Wednesday, June 6 -- after NHRA's Chicago race -- that he was jumping to

Ron Krisher’s operation in a similar role. Krisher’s split with crew chief and rival driver Mike Edwards (photo above when he was still driving for Krisher) was billed as a sudden and unexpected move, especially after Krisher won at Topeka and Edwards at Chicago in back-to-back events. But Krisher and Smith had struck enough of a deal for Smith to show up in the Eagle One pit Sunday morning at Route 66 Raceway, ready to get elbow-deep in Krisher’s engine.

Edwards shrugged off the surprise new crew member and went on to win that day. Instead of savoring his first victory of the season and a jump from 10th to fifth in points, he went back to Broken Arrow, Okla., scrambling to find a trailer and an engine. He had leased his motor from Krisher but said he decided it would be best to cut all ties.
