John Force let it be known that his 18-year-old daughter Ashley has
just received her NHRA Competition license and will begin her career
with the Rob Slavinsky Castrol Super Clean Competition Eliminator team.

IT'S ALL ABOUT FRIENDSHIP
John Force told DRO concerning the addition of Gary Densham to his team
for the 2001 season, "You know, if it weren't for Gary I'd still be
in Australia.… In 1974 I was helpless and he was there to get me out
alive when I had no money...he's just a good friend and that's why he's
joined the team, it has nothing to do with the million dollars we got
from the Auto Club."
Yeah, right.
NO RETURN OF FOURTH OF JULY RACE TO POMONA IN
2002
NHRA
Prez Tom Compton specifically denied that there would be a third event
at Pomona in 2002. "We are absolutely not planning to have another National
event next summer; two Pomona's are enough."
When asked about a possible "All Star" event, Compton told DRO, "Look
if we were planning to have a race here next summer it would behoove
us to tell you right now, with all the people coming out here, but we
are not going to be selling tickets."
Remember now -- no third NHRA race at Pomona next year. You read it
here first. (Ron Lewis photo)
PROJECT 4-LINK GOES ON TOUR
DRO Bracket racing guru, Jok Nicholson, and his merry band are "hitting
the road" with the dragracingonline.com "Project 4- Link" dragster.
In the month of July the crew will be racing at the B&M Racer Appreciation
Series at Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, Iowa. During that three-day
race they will make a one night only return appearance at Cedar Falls
Raceway for the "Night of Fire" and a probable "butt kicking." The following
week they will race at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex for the Super Pro
World Challenge $50,000 to win four day event. That will be followed
by a short three-day vacation in the Mackinaw Island area of Michigan
and then a return to Mid-Michigan for the IHRA Northern Nationals, then
back to Iowa for the IHRA HCS race at Karl Moyer's Eddyville track.
That will be followed by a month long retreat for the clan at the Janesville
Home for Burnt Out Bracket Racers, located at the rear of the Janesville
Tap.
DRO GOES NOSTALGIA RACING
As
some of you may know, DRO editor Jeff Burk and his long-time friend
Dave Koehler have had a series of interesting dragsters including the
ill-fated twin motored nitrous car shown here. Now the dynamic duo has
returned with a single-engine, blown and injected, rat-motored, Goodguys-legal
A/FD (engine shot below).
