FRAZIER JOINS MONTANA EXPRESS TEAM

Veteran tuner Larry Frazier will assist in tuning Paul Romine's CARQUEST Auto Parts Top Fuel dragster for the 2003 season. Frazier most recently was the assistant crew chief for Doug Herbert and has worked for many of the top teams such as John Force, Cruz Pedregon, Randy Anderson, and Connie and Scott Kalitta. CARRIER FAMILY GETTING BACK IN DRAG RACING

Agent 1320 has learned that the son of IHRA founder Larry Carrier has purchased the ex-Paul Romine, ex-CARQUEST Top Fuel operation from Doug Herbert. According to the Agent's sources, Carrier's son will drive the car which will be tuned by the same Walsh brother that tuned for Paul Romine during the 2002 season. No word yet if the younger Carrier has his license or when the team will test or which sanctioning body the team will compete in. One thing is fairly sure though: the car will have all of the power it needs and should be a player wherever it does run. [12-17-2002]

IHRA TOP FUEL RULES RUMOR

Agent 1320 hears that the fluid IHRA Top Fuel rules situation has taken another turn. The sanctioning body seems to vacillate back and forth between having IHRA specific rules for Top Fuel and adopting NHRA's rules, which a majority of the Top Fuel cars conform to. In this case the Agent has to wonder why IHRA can't take a page out of NHRA's book. NHRA has adopted IHRA's Pro Mod rules so that they could attract more of those cars to their events. Makes sense to the Agent that IHRA would adopt NHRA rules so they might attract more Top Fuel cars to their usually weak fields. [12-17-2002]

WE'RE NUMBER 113,000! WE'RE NUMBER 113,000!

We here at DRO aren't sure how to take this little bit of news but we got an email from a company www.trafficranking.com that ranks all 720,000 of the "important" internet sites by number of unique visitors, page views, etc. DRO is ranked number 113,000. DRO's staff couldn't decide if we should be proud or just go have a good cry. We opted for interpreting the stats as the mag being in the top 15 percent in the world and adjourned to our local tavern for a couple of adult beverages and called it a victory. [12-17-2002]
