HAMMONDS READIES FOR POMONA
Ex-NBA player and now full-time drag racer, Tom Hammonds has been testing
in Bradenton, Fla. before heading to the Pro Stock Super Bowl in Houston
and then on to NHRA's season opener at Pomona, Calif. Chevrolet pulled
the plug on several programs this year, but Tom says that he received
an increased budget and will be racing at every event this year.
Tom has bought land for a new shop where he will house his racing operation,
plus an engine program that he hopes to start soon.
HAMMONDS STILL MOTORING ALONG
Motorhome manufacturer Winnebago Industries has announced their sixth
consecutive year as the major sponsor of Tom Hammond's Pro Stock Cavalier.
This will be Hammond's first year competing on the NHRA circuit full-time
after retiring from the NBA last year.
"NHRA drag racing is simply one of the most exciting sports today,"
said Chris Prevatt, Winnebago Industries Motorsports and Specialty Markets
Manager. "Many of the participants, particularly in the Sportsman classes,
travel and use their motor homes extensively at events all year round.
The contingency program has been well accepted in all classes and is
simply one more way for us to give something back to the racing world
and show support for our customers involved in Motorsports."
