HERE'S THE SCOOP
Last year noted racecar builder Rick Jones was driving an NHRA Pro
Stock Truck. After NHRA killed the truck class, Jones announced that
he was going IHRA Pro Stock racing with a Hemi-Neon. In his first effort
at Rockingham he ran a respectable 6.67 but that was only good for the
number 21 spot. One thing the Agent noticed is that the trick scoop
with the pie wedge-shaped opening that Jones developed and built exclusively
last year seems to be all the rage this year with many different versions
of the Jones design being seen.
LUCAS GETS WITH LITTON! IS HOOTERS NEXT?
Word is out that Bruce Litton will have Lucas Oil Products as a "major
associate," the Agent hears that the sponsorship prohibits Litton from
having any major Lucas signage on the car at NHRA so not to compete
with the Lucas Oil sponsorship of Kenny Bernstein. Litton can, however,
show plenty of Lucas colors at IHRA events.
The Agent heard that good guy Bruce Litton is being touted to the Hooters
folks as a possible recipient of a Hooters sponsorship by IHRA officials.
Litton certainly deserves a sponsor, but the Agent has a question. Since
Alan Pittman and the "Gravedigger" Pro Mod was forced to not participate
at the NHRA Pro Mod race at Gainesville by IHRA/Clear Channel, would
they also try to prohibit a Top Fuel team backed by their series sponsor
from participating at NHRA events?
