'TEENS FROM NEW FULTON PRO MOD MOTOR?

At the recently completed IHRA races at Leicester, NY and Martin, MI nitrous oxide-injected cars did very well against the blown cars. In fact, Shannon Jenkins won both races. Agent 1320 hears that part of the reason is the new Gene Fulton-designed engine which could have the horsepower to put the nitrous cars in the 'teens. The teams that have the new motor include Ed Hoover, Shannon Jenkins and probably Steve Vick.

Some crew members on the teams that have the new Fulton motor are so confidant that, according to some teams with superchargers, the nitrous crews have told them that they are sure the new engine will put them in the 'teens and they don't care if IHRA gives the blower cars back some of the 100 lbs IHRA added this year.

If the Agent were a nitrous racer, he wouldn't want Fred Hahn, Tim McAmis or Al Billes to get that weight back. [8-01-2002]

MICKEY'S FOR PRO STOCK/PRO MOD

Agent 1320 found out that at least two Pro Modifieds and a Pro Stocker were testing Mickey Thompson prototype rear tires for those two classes at the recently completed IHRA Northern Nationals. The Agent couldn't find out too much information other than the three cars were testing the new tire. If these tires prove they can run competitively with similar tires that Goodyear and Hoosier make for these classes, it could result in a "tire war" and for the first time in recent memory the constantly increasing cost of tires for these cars may start to drop.
