CODY MAC/PAT MUSI UPDATE
The Agent hears that by the end of the week Cody McManama's ex-Carl Moyer '57 Chevy should have the EFI/nitrous oxide motor, clutch, and trans that Pat Musi has been running on the match race circuit this year installed and ready to test. Musi, who has joined forces with the Cody Mac team, has run a number of 6.40/225 laps at 2,700 lbs with that motor in his Camaro. The team will be testing to prepare for the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge at the U.S. Nationals where 40 Pro Mods are expected to compete for eight spots. The Agent would actually dig in his pocket and buy a ticket to watch 40 Pro Mods qualify for eight spots at the U.S. Nationals. [7-30-2002] SANCTIONING BODY BIDDING WAR FOR TRACKS The Agent remembers when Billy Meyer took over IHRA years ago and subsequently went after NHRA tracks. All that accomplished was to give promoters such as Seattle's Jim Rockstad and others leverage with NHRA. NHRA ended up taking over some of IHRA's most treasured tracks such as Bristol, Rockingham, and Darlington. Now the two sanctioning bodies are at it again and the agent hears
that tracks such as San Antonio, Martin, Michigan and others are being
wooed by both parties. It'll be entertaining to see which tracks end
up with which sanctioning body at the start of the 2003 season. Whatever
happens, the track owners will probably benefit, the sanctioning bodies
will get bragging rights, and the racers will just have to keep paying
to race and won't be able to tell the difference. [7-30-2002] |
