KUHNS TO HELP BARKLAGE

Agent 1320 has learned that West Coast tuner/driver Kirk Kuhns, who worked for Bob Rieger's team to start the season, has been hired by the Barklage Racing team to help them get their 2002 hemi-powered Grand Am sorted out. Kuhns, who also consults for the Wayne Torkelson Pro Mod team, will go to a test session with the Barklage team prior to the NHRA Pro Mod race in Dallas Oct 10-13. [10-4-2002]

IHRA DROPS MODIFIED ELIMINATOR CLASS

Agent 1320 was sent a copy of a letter from IHRA president Bill Bader telling his Modified racers that due to lack of support he has come to the difficult decision that Modified Eliminator will no longer be a part of the IHRA National Event program. A quick check with a couple of National Event track operators verified that Modified Eliminator usually had about a third of the entries that Super Stock or Stock Elimintor brought. The number of Modified Eliminator entries at National Events was usually in the 25-35 range, so there is some basis for Bader's decision. IHRA did say that they had added some classes in Super Stock where some of the competitor's cars would fit without too much effort. Another option was that they could race NHRA Competition Eliminator.

Say, isn't that the same class that NHRA offers to Pro Modified? The only question Agent 1320 has is will the participants of this class take the death penalty without suing the sanctioning body? [10-4-2002]
