During a U.S. Bankruptcy Court hearing in Kansas City on Sept. 25,
Vanguard Airlines attorney Daniel Flanigan said a purchase offer from
IHRA title sponsor Hooters of America was "inadequate," but
did not disclose the terms. The Kansas City-based discount airline stopped
operating on July 30, laying off 90 percent of its employees and filing
for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Vanguard has set an Oct. 3 deadline
for investors, including Hooters Air, to develop another offer. At that
point, Flanigan said, Vanguard will reduce its staff to 11 employees,
who will help sell off the company's assets.
