ATCHISON ENGAGED

IHRA Funny Car Champion Rob Atchison, driver of the Erickson Manufacturing Pontiac, became engaged Dec. 19 to his girlfriend Julie Evans. Julie, a weather forecaster at the New PL in London, Ontario, Canada, made the announcement during her weather broadcast the following Sunday evening. The couple has not set a date for the wedding, but it would be safe to bet it will be planned so it doesn't conflict with the drag race season. [12-23-2003]

The 12th annual Pontiac Pro Stock Super Bowl returns to Houston Raceway Park on Feb. 7, 2004. All Pro Stock, Pro Stock Bike and Pro Mod competitors are invited to attend the test-and-tune session.

PATRICK RETURNS TO IHRA PRO STOCK

Former IHRA Pro Stock racer Robert Patrick will make his first appearance on the IHRA Hooters Drag Racing Series since 1997. Patrick, whose family owns a Ford dealership in Fredricksburg, VA, will have a Jon Kaase mountain motor in his Jerry Bickel Ford Escort for the 2004 season. [12-23-2003]
