FIRST ENTRIES FOR DRO QUICK
EIGHT AT WORLD SERIES COME IN
Agent
1320 has learned that at least two of the cars
that compete on the West Coast's Top Eliminator
tour, where they run on a 6.30 index, have made
tentative plans to attend the 50th Anniversary
World Series of Drag Racing at Cordova Dragway
Park which is run on the weekend prior to the
U.S. Nationals. The Agent was told that West
Coast Econo Funny car racer Mack Moffat and
series champ Mike Stewart, who runs a hemi-powered
blown dragster, will bring their cars to compete
in the DRO Quick 8 at the Aug. 21-23 event.
Oh and just FYI, racers, both cars are equipped
with powerglide trans. [1-30-2003]

COMP ELIMINATOR FASTEST GROWING
CLASS IN NHRA
An NHRA source told the Agent that the fastest
growing sportsman class in NHRA (by percentage
of increase in entries) is the Comp Eliminator
division. Probably a lot of that has to do with
NHRA's decision to add new classes such and
Pro Mod, A/FD and the automatic/altered classes.
The Agent thinks part of the increase also could
be due to the fact that IHRA killed the class.
Whatever the reason, Comp is the Agent's favorite
sportsman class because the competitors have
the option to run their cars as hard as they
will go on every lap and the dreaded word "breakout"
is never uttered. [1-30-2003]
FISH CAUGHT A TROPHY
Agent
1320's pal and occasional source of info, vice-editor
or editor-in-charge of vice or holder of some
title at Super Chevy magazine, Randy Fish, entered
his hot rod at the prestigious Grand National
(Oakland) Roadster Show and won the coveted
1928-32 Hot Rod Highboy (no fenders) class.
Unlike a lot of guys who enter cars built by
someone else at these shows, Randy built most
of the car himself and (even worse) paid for
95-percent of the parts, even though as an editor
type he could have scammed most of them. A big
tip o' the Agent's hat to a real hot rodder.
Grey Baskerville would have been proud of this
guy. [1-30-2003]
