COUGHLINS FORM FOUNDATION
FOR CANCER RESEARCH
Pro Stock champ Jeg Coughlin Jr. and
his wife, Karen, have established the
JEG'S Foundation for cancer research and
education. The Arthur G. James Cancer
Hospital, the Richard J. Solove Research
Institute at Ohio State University and
the Ireland Cancer Center will receive
assistance to develop innovative treatments
as well as educational efforts.
Karen Coughlin, a five-year cancer survivor,
designed the ribbon (above) which will
be on all JEG'S Team cars and uniforms.

HAIGHT MAKES 5-SECOND CLUB

At the recent March Meet at Bakersfield, Calif.
Howard Haight clinched a spot on the Nitronic
Research 5-Second Club with an amazing three
runs in the zone (5.966, 5.862,

5.859).
The Fugowie Team's VRA-legal front engine dragster
was 180 lbs. lighter than it was last year, with
Haight dropping 30 lbs. himself.
Speaking of the 5-second club tradition of
passing along a five-dollar bill signed by all
the previous club member, Haight said, "When
the other 5-second drivers all came into my
pit after the run, holding up five fingers,
and presented me with the five-dollar bill,
I was really moved, and there haven't been a
lot of times in racing when I've been moved."
