'NEW'STALGIA FUEL CARS GET
HELP FROM NITRONIC RESEARCH
Even though they have data-loggers, billet
blocks and cylinder heads, 44 amp magnetos,
$5000 6-71 superchargers, 18 gallon fuel pumps
and a new compound that keeps the tires from
smoking like the old hard ones, the die-hards
in California keep calling them "Nostalgia"
Top Fuel cars. The Agent thinks that the only
difference between the current Top Fuel cars
and the "Nostalgia" Fuel cars is engine location.
Fuel Coupe tuner and nostalgia Top Fuel buff
Lance Larson has dubbed the newest iteration
of these cars Newstalgia Top Fuelers and the
Agent seconds that.

Anyway,
our friends over at Nitronic Research still
love these guys and are going to put up some
loot for the quickest passes this year. You
can log onto their site at
www.
nitronicresearch.com for the rules, but
basically cars have to be VRA legal and run
at specified West Coast events. Low e.t. of
the year gets the gold.
The Agent has only one question: How come
the guys at Nitronic didn't include a couple
of events East of the Mississippi like Indy
or Bowling Green in the program? [3-4-2003]

Even
though IHRA increased some of the first round
money for its Pro Classes, they kind of made
the racers pay for it. At the first try at
the IHRA opener in San Antonio, Texas several
Pro teams were grumbling because it cost them
more to get their team through the back gate
than it has in the past. Then it hit them
like the balloon payment on a payday loan.
IHRA had raised the price of a crew ticket
by $10.
