SCHUMACHER A CHOWDA' HEAD?
|
Multi-car team owner, Don Schumacher,
will speak at a monthly luncheon of the
Madison Avenue Sports Car Driving and
Chowder Society at the famed Sardi's Restaurant
in New York City on May 13.
Schumacher will speak on the subject
of the business of automobile racing,
discussing (according to a press release)
"the strategic planning required to introduce
new and diverse companies into the high-powered
arena of NHRA drag racing and how his
organization has provided his team sponsors
a valuable return for their investment."
The Agent would go, but since it's in
NYC, they probably will serve Manhattan
clam chowder and he prefers the New England
style. (photo by

have
announced a sponsorship partnership for 2003
including Car Craft involvement in the PRO-Edelbrock
Drag Racing Series and the PRO Auto Show & Shine.
The PRO Cheap Street class will be entitled the Car Craft Magazine Cheap Street category for the 2003 season. In addition, Car Craft Magazine will be the official Presenting Sponsor of the PRO Auto Show & Shine, which is open to all makes and models of new and old hot rods.
Guess it's a better "return on investment" than the Car Craft Drag Racing Team
and Banquet was. [4-30-2003]
MORE PRO MOD RULE CHANGES
COMING?
According to the Agent's sources at Bristol,
the IHRA is seriously considering making a rule
change for IHRA legal Pro Mods which would also
mean under the current rules that the NHRA/AMS
Pro Mod rules would change. Supposedly, the
IHRA tech committee is considering four possible
solutions: increasing minimum weight, taking
away supercharger overdrive, requiring a restrictor
plate, and changing the rear gear. According
to the Agent's sources and NHRA announcer Bob
Frey (who referenced his own sources), the change
most favored would be a new gear rule, which
would mandate a gear ratio higher than the current
4.56 ratio. [4-30-2003]
