SKUZA DEBUTS CORNWELL TOOLS
BODY IN DENVER
Dean Skuza and his NHRA Funny Car team will
debut a new paint scheme for the Denver Mile-High
nationals.
"Since we don't have a primary sponsorship
program on a full-time basis right now, our
team thought it was a great opportunity to show
our appreciation to the valuable associate sponsors
that have been with us over the past few years,"
said Skuza, in his 12th year of

competition
in the NHRA Funny Car ranks. "Cornwell Tools
have been solidly behind us for the last 3 years.
We feel that our performance is coming around
and have always run well at the Western races
in the past, so running this graphics package
at Denver is a tribute to the Cornwell Tools
customers, distributors, and executives that
have been so loyal to us. The Red Line Oil signage
is bigger, too, and their participation with
our team has been very important."
The Skuza/Cornwell Tools Funny Car will be
available soon as a Racing Champions Authentics
1/24 scale die-cast collectible exclusively
from Cornwell Tools distributors. [7-16-2003]
DRIVERS, CHECK YOUR PARACHUTES
Rumors going around NHRA Division 6 and 7 circles
are that the parachute safety of all rule-mandated
sportsman cars may get a lot more stringent.
NHRA safety officials will soon be checking
the laundry to be sure there is actually a parachute
in that pack.
Some chutes have remained packed for so long
in the Super categories that officials would
like to be sure they work in the event of a
mishap. Illegal release mechanisms and kinked
lines between the cockpit and pack will also
be checked. This periodic inspection will also
provide a forum for honing the skills to properly
pack the chute for later deployment.
Get out those instructions, guys! [7-16-2003]
