CALIFORNIA BUILDING BOOM

California is famous for overbuilding just about any piece of open land for housing, building that has take its toll on many California drag strips over the years. Well, here comes another motorsports complex, but this time for Northern California's Central Valley racers.

Riverside Motorsports Park has now moved off the drafting tables and will soon begin construction near Castle Airport in Merced County. [Note: our fearless leader, Jeff Burk, saw his first California drag race at Castle.] The new complex will feature eight different

racetracks to support club-based and professional motorsports. In addition to a 5,000-foot long drag strip there will be a three-mile road course, 3/8 mile dirt oval, 3/4 mile karting course, a motorcross and BMX course, and a 7/8 mile oval speedway.

"There isn't a motorsports facility like this anywhere in the country," commented RMP Founder and CEO John Condren.
