BARKLAGE, RAY AND HILL HEADED TO WORLD SERIES

While many of the touring Pro Mod regulars will be heading to Norwalk Raceway Park for their IHRA national event, NHRA Pro Mod regulars Zach Barklage (photo), Scott Ray and Bill Hill have decided instead to race at the 50th Annual Word Series of Drag Racing at Cordova Raceway Park Aug. 22-23.

Bill Hill will be debuting his new Jeffer's Race Cars '53 'Vette.

MONGOOSE FUNNY CAR GETTING CLOSER

We showed you a progress photo last week of the Pat Foster restoration of the 1978 U.S. Nationals winning Funny Car of Tom "the Mongoose" McEwen. Pat sent us another photo as the beauty comes back together at his Wichita, Kansas shop. He's still waiting on the finished motor, he's got to build the headers, and still has a "few thousand five-minute jobs" to complete, but the paint and hand lettering are just about finished.

The finished flopper will debut at the 49th annual U.S. Nationals over Labor Day weekend. (8-20-2003)
