GREEK TO RACE REST OF NHRA
SEASON
Chris
Karamesines will race at all the remaining NHRA
national events this year, beginning with Joliet
and finishing at the World Finals in Pomona,
Calif. in November. The Golden Greek (right,
with DRO Editor at Large, Chris Martin) has
also committed to the 2004 tour and crew chief/tuner
Tim Finley is working on updated parts for the
Top Fuel dragster. The Greek's 4.67 earlier
this year shows the 74-year-old is not on a
retirement tour, but is still the real deal.
DRO Editor, Jeff Burk, has signed on to wash
parts and fetch beverages as part of the entourage
the remainder of this season. (Jeff

GO, SPEED RACER, GO!
Proving
that it is never too late, 78-year-old Eloise
Overdorf got her first ride in a dragster, thanks
to the Frank Hawley Drag Racing School and Never
Too Late, an Indianapolis-based organization
that helps make the wishes of elderly and terminally
ill adults come true.
Eloise's ride took place Sept. 24 as a part of Castrol SYNTEC Outperforms Day
at Indianapolis Raceway Park. The event brought
together drag racers John Force, Tony Pedregon
and Sport Compact champ Jojo Callos, Formula
1 racers Juan Pablo Montoya and Justin Wilson,
and others to explain what it takes to achieve
success in their fields. [9-26-2003]

WE LOVE IT
Ah,
the information that passes over the Agent's
desk. We make no claim as to the legitimacy
of the offer, but we can't resist the name:
Nitrogeezers.com is promoting a opportunity
for someone to have the "once in a lifetime"
chance to be in the seat of the famed "Winged
Express" or the "Magicar" front engine dragster
for a full nitro fire-up at the National Hot
Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, KY next year.
All one has to do is make a donation to the
fund to help get the cars there and they have
a chance. Details can be found at www.Nitrogeezers.com.
Come to think of it, we have a few NitroGeezers
around the office here. [9-26-2003]
