DRO: What do you think of traction control in Pro Stock?

BG: It probably will happen eventually. We don't care. If it's legal we'll use it; if it isn't, we won't. Doesn't matter.

DRO: Do you think NHRA should go to an "off the shelf box" that they hand out, the way NASCAR does?

BG: Well, that may be what they'll attempt.

DRO: But you can't point to somebody and say, "I know he's using traction control"?

BG: I don't give a crap, myself. No.

DRO: What do you think of traction control in Pro Stock?

MS: Myself, I don't like it. It's just of them deals, why not do it the way the sport was intended to be done, not by electronics, but by brainpower and skill.

DRO: Do you think NHRA should go to an "off the shelf box" that they hand out, the way NASCAR does?

MS: I don't know if they can even control that. They can hide it in so many other different places. So it would probably be very fruitless to do it.

DRO: Without using names, do you know of anybody that's using traction control, that you can point to and say "I know he's using it"?

MS: Not really. You know, I've got my suspicions but I don't really worry about what the other guys are doing, I worry about what I'm working on.

DRO: And you're working with Mark Pawuk this weekend or is this a semi-permanent thing?

MS: No, right now it's just this weekend. Probably talk before next week, sometime. I got to do John Montecalvo up in Martin next week, so I'll be pretty busy.

DRO: Sounds like you're getting a lot of frequent flyer miles.

MS: Well it's not really flying, a lot of the Midwest stuff I drive to. By the time you get through an airport, you might as well drive it.

DRO: What do you think of traction control in Pro Stock?

GJ: I'm sort of neutral about it. Not wildly for or against it. Whatever the guys want to do is fine. If they're gonna try to control it, it's going to be a lot of work and sooner or later we'll be able to get it in so you won't be able to find it. So I don't know, maybe it's just as well that we just go ahead and do it.

DRO: Without using names, do you know of anybody that's using traction control, that you can point to and say "I know he's using it"?

GJ: I am totally unaware of who's using it or not.

DRO: Right now it's just a dirty rumor?

GJ: I've seen the packages. How effective they are I don't know, but it's a fairly small box; you can hide it almost anywhere.
