 On April 9, 1988 Texas Top Fuel legend Eddie Hill set the drag racing world on its ear when he broke the barrier most thought would never be broken - he recorded the first sub five second run for a Top Fuel car- 4.990/ 288.55. Hill accomplished that historic feat at the then IHRA sanctioned Texas Motorplex in front of a partisan Texas crowd. Just a little more than ten years later during NHRA national event at Denver's Mile High Nationals Hill made his 500th four second pass running a 4.824/286 losing effort against Cory Mac during eliminations.
